My thoughts: I should have said it on the show or wrote it down in an article, but Karlstrom was a player I was hoping the Isles would at least inquire about. Dallas had an abundance of centers so their loss may turn into the Islanders gain. In the short term if he clears waivers, I would love to see him on the first line with Alex Jefferies and William Dufour. Those three players are probably the closest to being NHL-ready out of the rest in Bridgeport. There’s a 200-foot game to go along with scoring that could be a threat in the AHL. As for the long-term Karlstrom is a bottom-six center, so I could see him becoming that bridge (no pun intended) between Pageau and someone like either Danny Nelson or Kamil Bednarik. He’s also insurance if the Islanders do not extend Brock Nelson over the coming season.
