My thoughts: The Isles gave him a little more money with the understanding that depending on how training camp goes, Wahlstrom may start the season as an extra and will have to wait his turn. His injured knee has been a factor and Kyle Palmieri having a stellar season last year did not help Oliver’s case for a regular spot on the roster. I do think he would be the best player to replace Palmieri in the near future, but he, like Holmstrom and Bolduc, are right where they need to be: on the team but waiting for their opportunity for full time work. Again, the Islanders are above the cap ceiling limit and there could be a move or two prior to the start of the regular season. The Islanders cannot lose Wahlstrom for nothing so we’ll see how things unfold in a few months.
