A Point, but WHY NOT 2?

All I kept saying in my seat during the last 10 physical minutes of hockey being played were: Watch out for Ovehckin! I knew that before the game he had at least three overtime winners against us (he actually had 4).  I know that despite the fact that the Isles defense kept him at bay for the majority of the night, that he could still give this team trouble….

Just Hoping For Better Play

As I sit here at my downstairs desk, I am just going to being my thoughts about tonight’s game, by just hoping for a better game than the one played by the home team last night. I think between the twitterverse, and other outlets for Islander conversation, just about every negative adjective has been used.  So many people want certain heads on a paddle.  Others want so many changes…

Isles Observations – 11/5 @ Washington

The Islanders started their 4 game road trip tonight in Washington.  After a solid opening period on the road, the wheels simply fell off.  The Capitals would go on to win the game 6-2.  Here’s some things that caught my eye. 1) Special Teams:  The penalty kill was quite awful.  At times, it seemed like the Isles really weren’t even working a system.  There was no structure at all.  I…

The Proverbial Point

The boys fought hard for it.  And they deserved better. JT was getting pummeled all around by Troy Brouwer and the rest of the Crapitals last night.  He retaliated when he could, but it was not enough. Braden Holtby was outstanding, and so was Evgeni Nabokov. Once again – the second line was outstanding.  Kyle Okposo scored, but even if he does not get another point for the entire season, he passion…

Road Warriors

For those of you that follow baseball, especially in the Tri-State Area, there has been a team in the Atlantic League called the Road Warriors.  Very simply, every game they play, is a road game.  They have no home, spend their entire summer in hotels, and play the game they love. Anyone considering putting Road Warrior uniforms on our hockey club?
