#457220397 / gettyimages.com Isles Talk continues it’s 2014-15 season preview with the reigning Metropolitan Division Champions, the Pittsburgh Penguins. Last year was a good regular season year for the Pens as Sydney Crosby played healthy and brought back a ton of hardware at the NHL awards ceremony. Unfortunately they let the New York Rangers make history as they came back from a 3-1 deficit and beat the Pens in game…

Isles Talk 2014-15 Season Previews: Pittsburgh Penguins

Isles Talk will be previewing the NHL prior to the start of the season over the next few weeks. I have been given the task of taking a look at the Pittsburgh Penguins. Here is my take on the boys from the Steel City. Pittsburgh Penguins 2013-14 Record: 51-24-7, 109 Points, 1st in Metro Division and 2nd in Eastern Conference. Not Much to Say, But….

Just a few facts. Despite the loss, this is NOT a game that people should BLAME Capuano for. It all comes down to respect.  Good teams get to have a little more latitude on calls in late games.  People could have been arrested for assualt, but when Vanek was pulled down on the power play, the Pens got NOTHING.  It is pure simple robbery.  The ref was standing RIGHT THERE…

I need to still calm down before I write more, but Pittsburgh, you DID NOT DESERVE this…

Crosby (definite), Orpik (almost positive) Out for Game 1

Just to confirm. Mr. Crosby is getting near 100%, but doctors have NOT cleared the Captain of the Pittsburgh Penguins to play in Game 1.  Brooks Orpik did not skate on a regular defensive pairing at morning skate, so he should also not be in the lineup tonight. It has also been seen that Tyler Kennedy may also not be in the Pens lineup tonight. Takes a little wind out of…

Power Shortage Nips Isles Again

Zero for Fourteen. If you are a penalty killer, that is a good number.  However, when on the power play, not so much. The last 120 minutes of hockey that the Islanders have played in Uniondale have provided nothing on the board, when it comes to the extra man situation.  Despite having sixteen shots during that time, nothing was able to get by the wall known as Marc-Andre Fleury.
