*** Just finished session one of the day – White Team practice. *** Thoughts from camp Got to talk to Scott Mayfield after practice.  He, being the ‘old guy’ here (his fourth), feels very comfortable in the setting.  He feels that his goal is to get some weight and speed.  He weighed in at 218, about 10 pounds more than he was during the season in Bridgeport.  He feels that…

Garth Snow – Howard Beale… Similarities anyone?

June 28, 2014

If you remember the movie, “Network”, Peter Finch, the actor that portrayed Howard Beale, the crazed news anchor who muttered a phrase that will be forever be a momentum getter at NHL arenas.  He did not use a ‘curse word’ but his antics remind me of someone at the NHL draft last night. What Should Isles Do At Number 5?

The Islanders have retained the fifth overall pick in this years draft. They have the option on June 1st whether to keep the pick or give it to Buffalo to complete the Thomas Vanek trade. Craig Button, who has correctly picked former top 5 picks for the Islanders, selected Michael Dal Colle in his mock draft. My Take: In a previous Mock draft, Button believed the Isles will give up…
