Path To The Draft 2017: The Isles Graduates of 2012

June 11, 2017

We conclude our Path to the Draft segment with a final look of the prospects that were drafted five years ago, 2012. This was an odd year for sure as Islanders general manager Garth Snow drafted all defenseman that year, but it turned out to have a bigger impact than most would have thought. All together, seven defenseman were selected and all but one have played at least in the…

Blog: Depth Over Trade Deadline

March 1, 2015

As the trade deadline approaches, many Islanders fans would love to see defenseman Johnny Boychuk sign a long term deal. I myself have suggested getting a two-way face off specialist to improve on a team that values puck possession. Some would also like to see the Islanders make a move to improve the special teams, especially the penalty kill that continues to plague the Islanders, such as their 5-3 loss…

The Bridge Report: Division Lead Within Reach

My first article for the Sound Tigers is extremely late and I do apologize, however it doesn’t mean I haven’t seen them in action. I’ve been able to catch a good portion of their season and have a few thoughts as the team embarks on taking first place in the Northeast Division. First off despite the record, the Sound Tigers are a work-in-progress. There are players who really have not…

Reinhart Sent Down

October 16, 2014

#Isles activate Calvin de Haan off IR, send Griffin Reinhart to Bridgeport. — Arthur Staple (@StapeNewsday) October 16, 2014 My take: Bridgeport just got better with the addition of Reinhart. I am also wondering, with Colin McDonald still in the press box and Michael Grabner to return in a few weeks, where does this leave Ryan Strome? Will he be the next victim (see Lee, Reinhart) of the numbers game,…

Isles Look To Go 4-0

October 16, 2014

My take: Two undefeated teams go at it tonight at 7:00pm at the Nassau Coliseum. In my opinion, the key for an Isles victory will be staying out of the penalty box. San Jose usually has a very good power play unit, but are only 13% with the man advantage. The last thing the Isles want to do is reignite that part of their arsenal. They’re a fast team and…

Stephon Williams – Obtaining the Experience

July 10, 2014

For most developing hockey players that have been drafted by an NHL team, the summer mini-camp is the place for them to show the powers that be – that they are improving and are worthy of the opportunity to grow and develop to be an eventual participant in the National Hockey League.  For 21 year old Stephon Williams, despite the fact of being drafted in the 2013 draft (4th round,…
