Morning Shootaround: Lockout Day 2

As we find ourselves in the infancy of the 2012 lockout process, a movie scene comes to mind (as they so often do) from Star Wars: Empire Strikes Back  (no surprise there either). Early on in the movie, Han Solo (to Princess Leia) as he is about to go on the lam once again:  Don’t get all mushy on me . . . so long Princess.   It pretty much somes…

Lockout Day 1 – What to do now….

Well – I saw this tweet from Michael Grabner today, and I think the fans have the same feelings as well… Just waiting on the lockout to start..it’s kinda like waiting for Christmas but not as cheerful and without presents #nolockout #ThePlayers The ‘fun’ has begun. The numbers just do not matter to me.  Both sides make so much on this.  However, I think that in this case, management is just cutting…

In fact, I have often gotten flack because of how merciless I can be on baseball players in conversations with friends when we talk about the sports. My favorite line is that you never see a hockey player missing two weeks of a season because of a hang nail …. Yesterday, I had…

One week to go…..

And there is nothing to be seen on Newsday, and nothing just about in any web site on the potential lockout that is now just a week away. A good number of the players are already here practicing at Ice Works in the hope that the Islanders will still have a camp on the 21st. “We’re still getting ready for training camp,” Islanders forward Michael Grabner said to New York Islanders.com….
