Islanders begin season tonight — OOPS Sound Tigers

Tonight we were expecting to see who would be in net; would it be the veteran Evgeni Nabokov, or the ageless wonder, Rick DiPietro.  Would John Tavares make the next move in his career progression and move towards his first 100 point season of his NHL career. Those and many other questions would have surrounded this young team in Jack Capuano’s second full season behind the Islanders bench.

5 Reasons I’m Into Sound Tigers Hockey for ’12-’13

As the mid-week negotiations between the NHL (Bettman, Daly et al.) and the NHLPA (The Brothers Fehr) came to a fizzling end on Thursday afternoon and as the league’s fan base grows increasingly jaded and agnostic, I figured it was time to roll out . . . 5 reasons why I’m looking forward to Sound Tigers hockey.  Some funny, some serious, some tongue-in-cheek and in no real particular order; but…

Notes from Ice Works

With the two pre-season games completed, the Bridgeport Sound Tigers ended up at 1-1-0-0.  They defeated the Providence Bruins 3-1 in Marlborough, Mass, and were defeated last night by the Manchester Monarchs 2-0 at St. Anselm, NH. Thoughts from Sound Tigers Camp

The Sound Tigers were at IceWorks again today, as they prepare for their two pre-season games on Thursday and Friday.  The 90 minute practice was spirited and filled with a great deal of hitting and physical play. Despite the fact, that he was looking to secure a spot in the NHL this season, Matt Donovan is quite happy that he is here in Bridgeport for now.  “I am not having…
