Here is why Leason is on top of my wish list: He’s ready to play in Bridgeport now. He certainly has nothing else to prove in juniors as you can see he finished 2nd in playoff scoring behind Bowen Byrum. Bridgeport really doesn’t have a right winger after Oliver Wahlstrom and with the possible departure of Josh Ho-Sang, this just makes the most sense for me. He’s 20 years old and having him and Wahlstrom in Bridgeport developing and hopefully coming up together would be nothing short of spectacular. He has a phenomenal shot and he can make his line-mates better. His skating has improved but it still needs some work, including his first step or push. He could be in the NHL is two years time or at the very least a callup. He’s already physically mature, but if he can continue to work on his speed and develop his game, he instantly makes Bridgeport better this year and the Islanders in the not so distant future, whereas the other prospects could take 4 or more years. Leason could also be seen taken in the upper part of the 2nd round, so I could see the Islanders trading down a few slots, pick up another draft pick in the process all while accomplishing building for the future while drafting someone for the present.

And there you have it folks. The final piece of my Wish List is complete and now we wait. Come join me at the Coli right now for a pre-draft party and then at RC Dugans in East Meadow starting around 6:30pm and we’ll watch the draft together.
