It is an extremely significant blow at the totally wrong time of the year. For the second straight season, the Islanders lose mainstay defenseman Travis Hamonic with a LOWER BODY INJURY.
There is no speculation of anytime after that, but this will be a bitter pill for Islander nation to swallow.
On the good side, I was at Northwell Ice Rink this afternoon, and saw Jaro Halak working with the strength and conditioning staff. He is walking quite well, and appeared to be extremely sweaty in his appearance. Hopefully, this is a sign that he may be closer than expected.
But what brings people to a obvious question is this?
Does Jaro come back for the playoffs? Do you put your faith in a guy that has not been well in over a month?
This is a question that I will ask Garth tomorrow at a Chalk Session that I am attending at the Barclays tomorrow.
Tomorrow is such a HUGE game – what will be the chances of pulling it off. Let me know – tweet me at @ghardingWGBB and tell me.
