Isles Talk Preview: New Jersey Devils

Over the next week, Isles Talk will be previewing NHL teams before we drop the puck on this 2014-15 season.  My assignment was to preview the 2013-2014 season for the New Jersey. Here what I came up with….

2013-14 Record:
82 35 29 18 88 35 197 208 21-11-9 14-18-9 4-1-5
GP       W       L         OT     PTS     ROW   GF       GA          HOME                  AWAY
Standings: (Use the Division):  In the Metropolitan division the Devils were 6th. In the Eastern  Conference standings they were 10th.
Thoughts on Offense:  The big player who contributed the most during the 2013-2014 season would have to be Jaromir Jagr. He averaged 82 points for the devils that season.
Thoughts on Defense: For defense, the devils  were on average. Andy Greene average about of 82 goal points in the 2013-2014 season. Eric Gelinas for the Devils averaged about 60 points for his team. The real winner of the 2013-2014 season would have to be Stephen Gionta, he averaged 66 points that season.
Thoughts on Goaltending: I can’t say anything bad about the goal tending. compared to teams like the Islanders the devils had some what of a solid thoughts on goal tending. Even though a lot of people were nervous about Cory Schneider, Schneider proved himself by signing a $42 million contract extension with the Devils for seven more years.
Overall opinion: The 2013-2014 season for the New Jersey Devils wasn’t the one to book into the good column for the devils fans. Coming into the 2014-205 season the devils should be looking for help of their captain Bryce Salvador. Salvador had 40 points for the devils in 2013-2014 season.
