Isles at Preds – Pregame

nyi nashIt was a good game last night – despite the loss.  There were a lot of positives to bring to the matchup tonight against the Predators in Nashville.

The last time they met was in pre-season where the Isles lambasted them.  The visitors that night were late getting into Long Island, and barely got there when the pre-game skate happened.

In the pre-season you do not have to follow the rules of being in the city on the night before a game.

The Preds are home, and a much different situation.

This was on the Predators web site - you think they would put JT on the main page????

Number 20 in your program will return to the nets tonight.  Kevin Poulin was not a world-beater, but he had a good game against the defending Champs.  Tonight, Nabby will be facing a team that will not have the firepower that Chicago possesses.  Nashville is last in the Central Division with a 1-3 record, scoring just 6 and allowing 13.  Only Buffalo has less goals, and they have the same number of goals that the Rangers and the Flyers do.

We usually expect that the team from the Music City will be a defensive oriented squad.  This year, they have struggled out of the gate, and Pekka Rinne, has not been the extraordinary man that he has been in the past.

No one on this team has more than one goal.  Mike Fisher leads with three points.  Four Islanders have more than that.

For the Islanders to win – they have to let it all out early.  Take it to this team.  There is not a lot of fire power (maybe you can put Shea Weber and Fisher to the list), so hit them early, and hit them often.  All of the lines for the Isles are working hard, and should get a good distribution of minutes.

I am predicting that the Isles will get their third victory of the season tonight.  Final score – 4-2.  What do you think?  Let me know @islessection317.
