Moving up the rankings to number 6 is probably the biggest mover so far in my draft preview, D Josh Morrissey.  To be honest, he’s moved up on everyone’s list because he was that good this year. He was expected to be drafted possibly in the lower second round, possibly upper third but because of vast improvements, he’s now a definite first rounder.   Morrissey played in a top pairing defensman role for Team Canada at the 2013 IIHF Under 18 World Championships, and he registered 6 points in 4 games & helped Canada to a 4-0 record and first place in their pool.  Morrissey won a gold medal for Team Canada at the 2012 Ivan Hlinka tournament, a bronze at the 2012 U-18.  He has a wealth of experience in big pressure games at the international level and this will only help him going forward.

Name: Josh Morrisey

Flat out great skater in all aspects, good acceleration, pivot, excellent mobility you name it. Has good stick handling skills, can lead a rush or join the rush at anytime, has great vision, a good wrist shot but some are saying he needs improvement in his slap shot, despite his ability to keep his shot low to the ice. He can be physical and bang out a few hits, but his big strength is his positioning. Morrissey can work on either the power-play or penalty kill. Morrissey is probably the third best offensive-defenseman in this draft  and if he slips later in the first round, don’t be surprised if the Isles traded down for him.
