Starting off our Isles Talk draft preview list is number #10 Andre Burakowsky. He’s a left winger from Sweden playing for Malmo but has also seen plenty of international experience playing in the under 18 World Junior Championships along with several other international junior tournaments. He comes in at number 10 because he’s a big hit or miss prospect. However if he hits, he’s the real deal.

Name: Andre Burakovsky

Weight: 180

League: SWE

ISS Rank: 15  Central Scouting Rank: 6 (European)

Comparison: Mikhail Grabovski (but at LW)

Burakovsky can skate, to the point he would make Michael Grabner proud. He’s that fast. He has excellent stick handling skills and when you combine his speed, you have defenseman second guessing themselves. Make no mistake is biggest asset is that he’s a scorer. He’ll work the corners, gets himself open anyway possible, drives to the net and when he has the puck on his stick, he’ll either score or has the vision good enough to make a great pass. His wrist shot and one timers are very good which makes him dangerous in the offensive zone. In short, he’s a future sniper. So why isn’t he ranked higher? Well there’s always two sides to this coin. Consistency is in question. He had some mixed playing time and that’s what makes his numbers look off. If he gains consistency he could be a first line LW for the Islanders. If not, he may not even make it to the NHL.  With the organization loaded with LW’s on the Island, they could take a chance and give him the time to develop that consistency.
